Please join us for the URISA TX monthly meeting/speaker series presentation on Tuesday, August 26 from 11 AM to 12 PM. This month we will be hosting a presentation on Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) and their applications in land surveying.
Title: Geospatial Applications of UAS: A detailed example of testing the accuracies and legal process of Mapping UAS
Presenter: Thomas Davis, USACE, New Orleans District
Thomas Davis graduated from Texas A&M Corpus Christi with MS in Geospatial Surveying Engineering and a BS in GIS. Although his foundation is in land surveying, he has lately taken a large interest in the geospatial applications of UAS. During his tenure at the University, he worked for the Conrad Blucher Institute for Surveying & Science and helped bring mapping UAS capabilities to universities by circumventing the legal process to get permission to fly UAS. Thomas now works for the Army Corps of Engineers in New Orleans where he currently helps to manage their UAS mapping initiatives.
