Updating HERE Data for Emergency Management Routing

Presentation Outline:

The HERE location platform forms the basis for many systems and apps, from in-car navigation systems to package delivery. However, perhaps the most critical use-case for geospatial data is 911 call routing. First responders have no time to waste when they are en route to a call, and incorrect or missing road and address data can cause life-threatening delays. This presentation will look at HERE’s data through the lens of 911 routing and demonstrate how you can get involved in improving the map for this and other applications.

About The Speakers:

Devon Bennett is a Data Acquisition Lead at HERE Technologies, based in Dallas Texas. She works to keep the HERE basemap up to date in the Central US, which in turn improves things like navigation, package delivery, and 911 emergency access. Devon is originally from Colorado and is a graduate of the University of Denver with a BA in Anthropology and Geography. Her personal geographical interests include sustainable cities, access to public transit, and walkable urban spaces. In her spare time, she enjoys Dallas arts and culture, cooking, and participating in local markets selling her crocheted creations.
