ABOUT URISA TEXAS
URISA Texas was founded in 2012 as a professional GIS organization incorporated in Texas.
The Texas Chapter of the Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA) is the professional association of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) practitioners in Texas. URISA Texas is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization whose mission is to advance the effective and appropriate use of GIS and related information technologies to solve challenges throughout the state.

Organizational Profile and Events
The organization has been increasing activity, especially over the past few years. We are experiencing steady growth in attendance at our events, interest in being on the chapter’s email list, and in people becoming active in chapter operations. The chapter email list includes almost 2,000 active GIS professionals across Texas. Chapter Leadership and Members include public and private sector geospatial and information technology professionals from across Texas.
URISA Texas was awarded the URISA Chapter of the Year in 2021 & 2017!
The chapter provides a variety of professional, educational, and networking events. URISA Texas runs a monthly Speaker Series, 10-20 Mappy Hour networking events, and educational workshops throughout the year. All these events include sponsorship opportunities.
