Midori Charles  Senior Imagery Analyst

(additional responsibilities include Business Analyst and Client Management)

My GIS career started back in 2011 when I made a lateral move in the Marine Corps from Personnel Administration to Imagery Analysis and fell in love with it. The following year I graduated from the National Geospatial Intelligence College and since then I have worked on numerous federal projects both in and out of the United States. I have also had an opportunity to work with Police Departments in California and Texas where I developed Computer Aid Dispatch (CAD) software and created their Record Management Systems. From there, I began working on Multinational Geospatial Co-production Program Topographic Map (MTM) projects at a university in Mississippi.  I have also assisted an Ohio County auditor to build their GIS platform with public facing interactive services, and on a larger scale of working with an engineering firm as a GIS Manager. Now, I’m back to my roots contracting with the Marine Corps doing Imagery Analysis. It has been quite a long and fruitful journey, yet always humbling to know that you will never stop learning in this field.

Fabian Gutierrez

Electric GIS Technician

San Diego Gas Electric (SDGE)

I am an Electric GIS Technician for San Diego Gas Electric (SDGE) with a little over one year of experience. In my day-to-day task, I receive a variety of jobs ranging from: preliminary designs, as-builts, emergency jobs, etc.… After going through these jobs, I either digitize the design into ArcMap brand new or if they are as-builts I update ArcMap to current field conditions. As far as my education, I received my BA in Geography and GIS Certificate from CSU Long Beach. Outside of work, I am passionate about aviation and enjoy exercising my privileges as a private pilot. I also enjoy playing golf and exercising a couple times a week. I am always looking for new opportunities to expand my knowledge in GIS and aviation.

Richard Ra

Sr GIS Specialist

Atmos Energy Corporation

Richard was fortunate enough to step foot into his career in GIS while working as a contractor for Atmos Energy. Originally unsure of what he wanted to do in life - it took 3 changes in majors to even hear the acronyms GIS and it’s meaning. He still had a desire to learn more, but by then, he was already locked in for graduation and in 2018, he received his BA in Criminology from the University of Texas at Dallas. Later in 2021, he became the GIS Technician and GIS Department lead for the City of Richardson, where he had the opportunity to continue his technical education through exposure to many different angles of GIS work including administration, data management and web services. He has since come full circle and recently re joined Atmos Energy, but this time as a full-time Senior GIS Specialist. In early 2022, he started volunteering for URISA Texas and has since helped create numerous events for the URISA Texas website.
